About this place
Mount of Olives Jerusalem
The Mount of Olives lies east of Jerusalem’s Old City and offers one of the best-known panoramas of its walls and landmarks. The hillside contains Jewish cemeteries as well as Christian religious sites connected with traditions about Jesus.
The area is not a single fenced attraction. Different churches, viewpoints and historical locations have separate entrances and rules, and walking between them involves slopes and roads.
What to see
- Panoramic viewpoint over the Old City
- Historic burial grounds on the hillside
- Religious sites along the route toward the Kidron Valley
Visitor information
Plan a specific walking route rather than relying on one opening time. Respect active cemeteries and places of worship, and check transport and security conditions.
